From the beginning, compelling storytelling has shaped us. Over time, as new technologies and ways to communicate were introduced, we had to adapt.
North by Northwest was founded in 1990 as small production house specializing in producing local television spots. Scratching together funds to buy equipment and grow NNXW presented problems, but the passion to tell great stories pushed us to breakthrough.
In 1995, North by Northwest was requisitioned to produce a feature film, something we had never done before. The success of the film, lead us to produce such features as "The Basket", "The Big Empty", and "End Game". Since our humble beginnings, NXNW has produced over 50 feature-films and made a name for itself producing small budget movies with the same precision of larger "Hollywood" groups.
As technology changed, new areas of expertise presented opportunity to grow. Adding motion graphics, post-production animation, non-fiction and documentary storytelling, distribution, and added depth to our commercial division soon followed.
Adding a second location become a natural transition, opening a shop in Boise, Idaho. The southern Idaho team focused on commercial production and corporate videos, extending the NXNW reach and broadening our talent.
Over the past several years, the introduction of digital formatting, high-definition, and the explosion of online communication again presented room for opportunity. Leveraging past successes, NXNW was able to introduce and adopt new cameras, computers, software, and production equipment.
In 2011, we made another monumental transition, merging with an interactive firm to greater deepen their area of expertise and tell stories in a new way -- through creative online and mobile solutions.
What we do is more about how we do it and what we deliver. Service line descriptions and listing our competencies do not serve justice to we are capable of.
We were founded on producing television commercials, which later lead to making a name for our self producing full-length, small budget films within our entertainment arm. After these two successful ventures, we branched into non-fiction or documentary style storytelling, later adding corporate video production, interactive capabilities, and a distribution division.
Though each division can act independently, targeting certain audiences or working within a particular medium -- it is key to know we share and work together to deliver stories in unique ways either through broadcast, feature-film, documentary, online, or mobile capabilities.
We are able to serve a wide variety of clientele, brands, businesses, and challenges. We apply the ability to listen, learn, collaborate, and ultimately help strategize. Whether it be full-service or an extension partner, we take the time to understand the goals and potential outcomes of what our services can help to offer to our audience.
